To draw attention to RI and partners' worldwide effort to “finally and forever” eradicate the terrible, crippling and sometimes fatal wild polio virus, SGR's two-time President Dale Desmond, incoming President Dave Prisbrey and past President Ken Sizemore (to celebrate his 70th birthday), will take a 14,000 foot “Polio Plunge” on Saturday, June 22 at 9 a.m.
Donations to Polio Plus can be made in person at the Hurricane airport at 800 W. 2300 South in Hurricane City; drop it in the mail to Rotary, P. O. Box 1423, St. George, UT 84771 or Venmo to @StGeorgeUTRotary. The goal for this fundraiser is $1000!
Mark your calendar for Monday, July 1 when we'll celebrate Bryan Thiriot's success as club president in RY2023-24 and pass the baton to incoming President Dave Prisbrey (RY2024-25).
Our Officer Induction Dinner will be either the last or the first social event of the year depending on which president you ask but it is certain to be FUNNN ... and a whole lot cooler in Pine Valley than a July day in St. George. We will gather in former member Lynn Beecher's beautiful cabin.
It will be a potluck dinner with the main course provided by the club. Those with surnames beginning with A-H are asked to bring salads, beans or another side dish of your choice. Those whose last names begin with I-R should plan to bring a dessert to share and those whose names begin with S-Z, please bring drinks.
Come early to enjoy Pine Valley State Park's walking trails, water play, fishing or maybe just find a shady spot to take a nap. If you've never been there, you might also enjoy a tour of the beautiful white Pine Valley Chapel.

In the last board meeting(s) of RY2023-24, the following agenda items were discussed and approved:
* SGR will organize and invite all members of the Hurricane Valley, Washington City, St. George Sunrise and Veterans Rotary Clubs to meet together on Monday, July 29 to discuss ways in which we can collaborate to address community needs.
* SGR is proud of the amazing and life-changing Guatemala stoves project ... but we also need a "bigger, better, bolder" LOCAL"signature project" through which we can be identified in the community. Your ideas are welcome and encouraged!
* SGR's Foundation Committee needs volunteers willing to "pound the pavement, walk through doors and ask for $$$" to sponsor SGR's 2nd annual car show on Saturday, October 5 at Red Cliffs Mall.
Thanks to President Bryan and our hardworking board members, SGR has finished RY2023-24 in a very good position in the community, District 5420 and the Rotary world.
HEARTBREAKING NEWS ... this week there were 2 more cases of wild polio with paralysis, including one death bringing the worldwide total to 10 ... 5 in Afghanistan and another 5 in Pakistan!
