It's another first Monday so please plan to attend our February board meeting(s). Board members, we will be meeting at the Abbey Inn at 10:45 a.m. on Monday, February 3, 2025. Be prompt, because as always there is lots to discuss as we move thru the second half of RY024-25.
Monday, January 27 was an historic day for SGR. No one can ever remember the induction of five new members in a single day ... but the "more good news" is next week we're going to add another two bringing our total membership since July 1, 2024 from 60 to 72 ... a net gain of 12!!!
Welcome to (from left) Allen Young, a former Rotarian who left when moving from another community, then decided to return to Rotary a few years later; Lyn and Jeff Hogrefe, who found Rotary when looking for an organization in which they could represent PAWS, their favorite non-profit; Raelie Madrid, a staffer in the local office of U. S. Congresswoman Celeste Maloy; and Laura Rosch, the campus dean at Rocky Vista University in nearby Ivins.
See more on SGR's Facebook page and watch for more from - and about - these new members. It is an exciting time for our 94-year-old Rotary club!
With our recent historic induction of five new members - and two more being inducted today - our goal is to sign up every member of SGR to one or more committees. Those committees include Membership, Club Administration, Youth, Service, Special Projects, "Is It FUNNN?," Public Image, Foundation, Oranges Delivery and Fundraising.
None of these involve an inordinate amount of time - though depending on the time of year or the project there may be a burst of time needed.
Please don't hesitate to let a member of SGR's board know of your interest. Our club is moving along at a brisk case, so everyone's skills and willingness to serve are needed.
Delivery of our 2025 order of sweet, delicious, thick-skinned, easy-to-peel California navel oranges has been changed to Monday, February 10 so there is still time to buy and/or sell! The cost is $58 for a full case, $34 for a half and $21 for a quarter.
It is our hope each member of SGR will purchase a minimum of 3 cases.
If you are new to SGR, you should know these are probably the best oranges you've ever had, picked fresh from trees in central California (also known as America's fruit bowl).

Utah County line?
It looks like the number of cases of wild polio w/paralysis will top out at 99 in 2024, a terrible number representing pain and suffering for these children, most of them in Parkistan.
In January, 1 case has been diagnosed in the New Year.
