To avoid confusion, please be advised our meeting TODAY is at the Abbey Inn, after it was announced last week we would be meeting at the new St. George City Hall. Since last week's club newsletter went out, SGR was notified the city does not yet have a policy in place for hosting public gatherings at 61 S. Main Street ... so, make a note we will once again be meeting at the Abbey Inn where our speaker will be St. George City Mayor Jimmie Hughes.
St. George Rotary is the last of four clubs in Washington County to embrace the very real benefit of future funding for district and global grants. District Governor Suzanne Wilhelm and her committee are working hard to raise $10 million by May which will make a huge difference in available funding for such projects as our Guatemala stoves (which RI has rejected for funding for several years). Currently District 5420 divides about $75,000 annually between 45 clubs ... SGR's cut is about $2000 each year (primarily for dictionaries). Through Endowment-SHARE funding to the district - and ultimately to individual clubs - there would be an increase in the amount available from interest in that $10,000,000 endowment to about $330,000 annually!!!
To make this happen, SG Rotarians are asked to consider a minimum bequest of $10,000 (no payout until the time of your death), which will be matched 100% by an anonymous Utah Rotarian to a total of $500,000 for 10 benefactors. If as many as a dozen SG Rotarians might consider pooling their resources for a $25,000 named fund they could recognize loved ones, a business or St. George Rotary as the benefactor with the interest coming back to our club annually.
See Foundation Chair Dave Prisbrey for more information or to donate.
This is the SGR's "never-ending service above self" project. On Friday, February 20, what we thought was our last 21 cases of sweet, delicious California navel oranges were delivered bringing our total of quarter, half and full cases sold to 203! Although we didn't reach our America 250 goal, we now have another$6750 in the bank for upcoming projects.
But we had two cases we have sold over and over again when the eager buyer continues to be out of town on delivery days requiring us to re-order 2 more cases. So now we have 1/2 case left to sell (price is $34 ... or best offer). If you want it, let Linda know ... but in the meantime, thanks to every Rotarian who purchased, sold or delivered this delicious fruit.
For Rotarians, February 23rd is a day steeped in history when in 1905 four young professionals gathered to change the world! One hundred and twenty-one years later, there are now 1.4 million Rotarians and Rotaractors and 36,000+ clubs in 211 countries around the world. Thank you, Paul Harris!

Do you have THIS stuck away in a dresser drawer but which could be put to good use? We know what you can do with it ... and this valuable resource is gaining momentum in the Rotary world! Why not donate it to help fund the eradication of polio?
Still counting! In the first seven weeks of 2026, there have been NO children diagnosed with wild polio with paralysis! And, more good news ... Pakistan recently completed a country-wide immunization program ... and the numbers were staggering!
In 2026, please resolve to join the PolioPlus Society at a cost of just $8.50 PER MONTH - or an annual donation of $100 to save children around the world from this dreaded disease.
FMI, contact Foundation Chair Dave Prisbrey or Club Treasurer Collin Davis to make your wishes known!
