President Bryan Thiriot made it to Singapore traveling 8857 miles in just over 16 hours to be greeted by lots of Rotary branding promoting the 119th RI Convention.
If you have never attended an RI Convention, mark your calendar for June 21-25, 2025 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. If you have attended in the past, you know what an amazing event this is with topnotch speakers, locations and amazing things to see and do!

Originally established to commemorate the soldiers who perished in the Civil War, Memorial Day has evolved into a national observance as a time for Americans to reflect on those who gave their lives defending our nation's values and freedoms. It's not about veterans but about those who didn't make it home!
Thanks to the members of SGR, some who served in the military as well as those who gave their measure of "service above self" to post the colors of our nation at St. George and Tonaquint Cemeteries for Memorial Day.

Meet SGR's newest member! On Monday, May 20 we inducted Ryan Davis (sponsored by Jim Coleman) who is a program manager responsible for professional services at Workday (based in Pleasanton, CA). He and his wife Martina are nearby neighbors of Jim and Joann as well as Tom and Allison. Outside of work, Ryan enjoys time in the outdoors including diving, hiking, camping with family ... and "service above self."
His "also" is a degree in accounting from Westminster College ... and he's a Spanish speaker.
And, on June 3 we will be inducting David Martinez (sponsored by Carla Martinez) bringing our current membership total to 63 in RY2023-24 But, President Bryan's goal is 70 members by June 30, 2024. There's still time to find your one!!!
Also on Monday, May 20, Paul Lillywhite, with wife Bonnie, was awarded SGR's 308th Paul Harris Fellow, thanks to the generosity and enthusiasm for Rotary of PDG Jim Coleman (RY2000-01). This special recognition of the talented master stonemason who restored the firepit at Vernon Worthen Park and will soon be working to bring new life to the "Forever Dixie" monument on the SE corner of Town Square acknowledges a $1000 gift to The Rotary Foundation.
We are holding steady with a worldwide total of 5 cases of wild polio with paralysis in 2024- 3 in Afghanistan and 2 in Pakistan (though technically four cases occurred in 2023).
