SGR's trip to Halchita made it into St. George News as our 10th submission - to date - in RY2025-26. See it here https://www.stgeorgeutah.com/announcements/st-george-rotary-rudolph-run-delivers-christmas-to-halchita/article_d1e529f4-b4ad-4c16-b442-29c6f3f2b83d.html or on Facebook!

Utah Rotary District 5420 Governor Suzanne Wilhelm and the hardworking Endowment-SHARE Legacy Fundraising Committee are working together to raise $10,000,000 to benefit the district and its 45 clubs in perpetuity (anticipated to provide an additional estimated $330,000 annually in district grant money compared to approximately $150,000 currently available to be divided ... half for the district and the other half as grants for projects in 45 clubs!)

To date, a bit over $1,000,000 in cash donations and another $2,500,000 in bequests has been raised.  Why bequests?  Because, in the words of District Foundation Chairman Egor Shulman, "we are all going to die ... and because an anonymous donor has offered to provide a 100% match for the first 50 $10,000 bequests - to a total of $500,000 making it possible to add another $1,000,000 to our Endowment-SHARE."

Your bequest in the amount of $10,000 will generate project spendable income for our district to be split annually for projects in any / all of Utah Rotary's 45 clubs.  Or if you prefer, a $25,000 donation will "buy" you a Named Fund (St. George Rotary, your company or family name or in honor of a loved one!)  A Named Fund will then provide project spendable income to our club every year!

See SGR's Foundation Chairman Dave Prisbrey for the simple one-page form which will take less than 5-minutes to complete. Fill in the yellow highlighted sections, get your +1 to sign as well, then email Egor to arrange pick-up, and he will make sure it gets to The Rotary Foundation.  For more information, contact Egor at drfc5420@gmail.com.

PS: Your donation will also get you an invitation to attend Utah Rotary's Legacy Gala Dinner on May 2, 2026 at the University of Utah Scholarship Hall overlooking the stadium! (There will be an additional charge for the dinner if you decide to accept the invitation).

St. George Rotary Club is once again selling sweet, delicious, easy-to-peel and fresh-off-the-tree California ORANGES!  In recognition of America’s semiquinncentennial of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, our goal will be to sell 250 cases.  We have come close to this number in years past but not without a “full court press” from our members.

To reach this lofty goal, we are asking for your commitment to buy and/or sell to your neighbors, friends, or co-workers eager to purchase this delicious fruit. Or you can buy 1 – or 10 - cases and give them away.

However, there are 3 important details for you to know:
  • The price for a full case is $58 - the same as last year - or $34 for a half case or $21 for a quarter case.  The deadline to order is Feb. 7 with delivery the following week.
  • Our grower in central California reports this year’s crop is ahead of schedule …. and coming in as “bigger, sweeter and juicier!”
  • Delivery will be in the week in Valentine's Day.
  • For each of our 250 cases, SGR will donate $4 to PolioPlus for the final eradication of polio to be matched by the Gates Foundation to a total of $2000.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE sell ORANGES in support of our Guatemala stoves project, Halchita, our dictionary project, and Polio Plus!

Thanks for your support.  See Linda if you have questions!

Did your club committee meet in 2025? Does your committee have a scheduled meeting in 2026? Do you have questions about what you / your committee should be doing? Do you know your committee's job description can be found in THE LEARNING CENTER in member resources at rotary.org?

Utah Rotary's DG Suzanne goal for D5420 is for a net increase of 200 new members by June 30, 2026.
So, who do you know who should be a member of
St. George Rotary Club?

By channeling RI's commitment to THIS avenue of service, we are reminded – especially in January - of the importance of contributing our skills, talents and expertise to the problems and needs of society.

It's been another week without a case of wild polio with paralysis anywhere in the world. This "joyful news" means we finished 2025 with a worldwide total of 39 cases ... 9 in Afghanistan and 30 in Pakistan.

In 2026, please resolve to join the PolioPlus Society at a cost of just $8.50 PER MONTH - or an annual donation of $100 to save children around the world from this dreaded disease.

FMI, contact Foundation Chair Dave Prisbrey or Club Treasurer Collin Davis to make your wishes known!
