Good attendance, good friends and good pizza ... doesn't get any better!
More than 1300 dictionaries are ready for excited 3rd graders
Dictionaries ready for distribution
Rotarians showed up on Monday, January 29 to add stickers to the dictionaries ... and most took the number of boxes and books needed to distribute to 3rd graders in their neighborhood schools, but they left several boxes of dictionaries behind in hopes someone will claim them.
If you are planning to deliver dictionaries and haven't yet picked them up, please do so at your earliest convenience at Jviation at 35 S. 400 West (just south of Smith's Food and Drug) during regular business hours. And, be sure to check the list to show you've claimed them for distribution.
To date, only 15 members of SGR's 61 members have committed to buying and/or selling this year's crop of sweet, delicious, thick-skinned, easy-to-peel California oranges.
So, to date we have sold only 80 cases in our raising-money-for-Guatemala time of year.
That's where YOU come in! With your help - buying or selling at least three cases of oranges - our goal is to raise about 1/3 of the roughly $17,000 needed to build 125 stoves in Mayan villages.
The cost in 2024 has increased to$58 for a full case, $34 for a half caseor $23 for a quarter casedue to the rising costs for boxes, fertilizer and fuel in 2024.
Anticipated delivery date - when the oranges are at the peak of their sweet, delicious goodness - is on or aroundTuesday, February 21.
Right now, we have raised just $2240 toward our goal of $5000+ so PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE ... SELL, SELL, SELL!
The March 1 deadline for the amazing Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is coming up soon. SGR has budgeted for 3 sophomore or junior high school students to attend this incredible event from Monday, June 10 to Thursday, June 13 held at the Wasatch Academy in Pleasant Grove, UT.
Tuition for each student is $400 (paid by SGR) and transportation will be provided.
As of today, we have 2-3 "maybes" but no firm commitments ... so WHO DO YOU KNOW in your neighborhood? Your workplace? Your church congregation who will benefit from youth leadership training at RYLA?
See Joann Coleman, SGR's Youth Chair for more information or to pass along names and contact info for interested youth.
