There could be 2-3 more bicycle repair clinics before Dec. 16.
James Jackson has capped this project at 50 bikes ... but its still a lot so we need your help.
The children of Halchita are excited to think Santa might be bringing them a bike!
Please note the change of venue for Monday's meeting
As occasionally happens during the year, the Abbey Inn cannot accommodate us for lunch on Monday, October 17

Soooo, we will be meeting upstairs in Conference Room D at the Gardner Center on the campus of Utah Tech University.  This meeting room is upstairs and immediately next door to the Trailblazer Cafe where you can have your choice of a variety of lunch items (pizza, burgers, etc.).

Come early, get your lunch and settle into the meeting room for socializing followed by an outstanding program by Del Beatty, Dean of Student Services.

Questions?  Please call Linda.

Prez Dale is "Parachuting for Polio" on World Polio Day
In the early morning hours of Monday, October 24, President Dale and DG Jose ... along with St. George Sunrise President Dave Nelson and Rotarian Stephanie Velasco will be "parachuting for polio" to raise funds for our 37-year war against this dreaded disease.

Also on this World Polio Day, our meeting will feature entertainment by President Dale and also hear from Past District Governor Sandi Schwartz (District 5240 - Riverside, CA) about the progress made, to date, against this dreaded disease.

This will be important information for friends, family members or co-workers who might be interested in "what's Rotary?"
Catchers needed for the Ironman
Believe it or not, it's almost a spiritual experience to be there when competitors will cross the finish line on October 28, after 70.3 miles of swimming, biking and running.

But another reason to sign up is so SGR can apply for a grant from the IRONMAN Foundation to support local organizations with a volunteerism component.

The Volunteerism Grant program provides an opportunity to support Rotary's mission while creating positive, tangible change and leaving the IRONMAN Legacy behind long after race day.

The more SGR volunteers stepping up to support IRONMAN, the more likely it is we will be considered for funding.

And it will be FUNNN!
Bring your grocery bags to Rotary
We currently have enough grocery bags to create TWO but we need 1000 or more to create 3-4 sleeping mats for some of the homeless in our community.

BTW, these sleeping mats raise the ground temperature by 40 degrees on cold winter nights.

More to come on this important "service above self" project but in the meantime, keep saving your grocery bags and bringing them to Rotary ... but not this Monday!
On the weekend of Nov. 10-12, Salt Lake City will see its largest gathering of Rotarians since the 2007 RI Convention when members from 30 districts in the Western U.S. and Canada travel to Utah. Join us on the "Trail to Peace" at the Zone 26/27 Institute where we'll Imagine Rotary in a peaceful world!
