In 2026, Utah's more than 33,000,000 residents will join other states to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776!
This yearlong party - 250 years in the making - will bring America together to reflect on our past, build community, and look toward our bright future as we "educate, engage and unite for good!"
The semiquincenterrial is a chance for everyone to feel a part of this major milestone in our nation's history. There will be community events of every kind, opportunities to share our stories and amazing "service above self" projects including SGR's planting of 250 trees to reforest more than 16,000 acres lost in the (still burning) Forsyth fire in Pine Valley (the soonest this will happen is mid-October) ... but are there other projects we can do to celebrate America 250?
Bring your best ideas to our committee roundtable meeting on Monday, July 21. Let's make this one of SGR's best year's ever while we also recognize our nation's courage, liberty and sacrifice!
SGR's "Rev'd Up for Rotary" car show is just around the corner and Chairman Dale is looking for sponsors. If you are a business owner, as well as a Rotarian (even if you're not) $250 to $1000 will get you a generous sponsor package, including a spot in our sponsor showcase. The car show will be held on Saturday, September 6 at Red Cliff! See Dale for more information.
Our friend and former member of St. George Rotary Toby O'Brien wants you to know where she has landed! She reports living on a 30-acre farm ten miles from McMinnville, OR where she extends an open invitation to her friends in St. George Rotary to visit ("I have a guest bedroom and all are welcome ... just not all at the same time"). She is now (again) a member of the McMinnville Sunrise Rotary Club.
If you want it for your Christmas card list, her address is:

D5420 Governor Suzanne Leonelli Wilhelm's membership goal in RY2025-26 is 200
(a net gain of 4 for each of Utah's 45 clubs) by June 30, 2026. So who do you know who should be a member of St. George Rotary Club?
Rotary Question of the Week
Whether you're traveling across town or around the globe, this site in My.Rotary.org (yes, Naomi was right ... there are a couple of "dots") will help you find a club to visit!
Happily, this week there have been ZERO new cases of wild polio with paralysis in the entire world. But Rotarians know it still exists!
We know we're going in the right direction, but in 2025 the worldwide total is 16 ... 2 in Afghanistan and 14 in Pakistan.
If you aren't already giving to the PolioPlus Society - at an affordable $8.50 a month or $100 annuallyuntil polio is eradicated finally and forever - make this your New Rotary Year resolution! See Foundation Chairs Dave, Bryan or Dale for more information.
