OK, Rotarians ... here's a "bigger, better, bolder service above self" project if there ever was one ... so please EVERYONE step up for what is going to be a HUGE amount of time and involvement ... but, has the very real possibility of generating a 5-figure financial return for SGR as the event's volunteer car parking coordinators.
Here's the project by-the-numbers:
2 - number of locations needing volunteers
3 - number of shifts per day needing volunteers
4 - number of hours per shift needing volunteers
7 - number of days with opportunities to volunteer as part of this exciting event at SoUT's newest and maybe the most breathtakingly beautiful golf venue during the week of Oct. 7-13
300+ - number of volunteers needed for this HUGE event - the first of its kind in St. George - but definitely not the last (the PGA will be back ... AND the LPGA will also be here in 2025)
5 - number of non-profit organizations eligible to receive a check for as much as $4000 for taking 1 of 7 days and recruiting at least 60 volunteers to help park cars for PGA players, caddies and other VIP's!
Meet new member Kyra Haycock, sponsored by Jenny Lee, who was inducted as our 62nd member on Monday, August 26 at the Pizza Factory.
A realtor at Equity Real Estate, in her spare time Kyra (pronounced KIra) enjoys travel and swimming ... and speaks Japanese!
Welcome, Kyra. We look forward to your friendship, your growing enthusiasm for Rotary and can't wait to serve alongside you!
Once again, a dedicated group of Rotarians and volunteers will gather for a "Party in Pasadena" to decorate and showcase an awe-inspiring Rotary float for the annual Tournament of Roses Parade on January 1. The 2025 theme of "Best Day Ever" aligns with RI's theme of "The Magic of Rotary."
This is simple "service above self" and lots of fun. Registration for "decorator signups" opened on September 1 so REGISTER TODAY at rotaryfloat.org.
Register today at utahrotary.org And by the way, our club has two nominations which could mean we might be bringing home a cash prize of $1000 ... but only if we have a minimum of 8 members from our club in attendance.
Fun, food, music and a huge variety of makes and models of classic cars, hot rods, motorcycles, and "other" vehicles for your enjoyment on Sat., October 5 in the Red Cliffs Mall parking lot. Come one, come all!
This has been another terrible 2 weeks with 7 new cases of the wild polio virus with paralysis diagnosed - 5 in Afghanistan (now 18 so far this year) and 2 in Pakistan (16 total) bringing the worldwide total in 2024 to 34!
This wicked and crippling - sometimes fatal - virus MUST BE ERADICATED! It is estimated if we end this campaign, there will be an estimated 200,000 cases within a decade.
But currently, only 53.3% of the world's 1.4 million Rotarians are giving to the eradication of polio.
Please won't you join the Polio Plus Society by committing $8.50 a month or $100 a year until the wild polio virus is finally and forever eradicated? It can't happen unless we all jump into the fight!!!
