It was a beautiful, clear - but chilly - evening when SG Rotarians gathered on Friday, October 23 for an opportunity to socialize, and relax after the first two weeks of October, including the PGA TOUR, SG Marathon and the Huntsman World Senior Games ... with a little bit of Halloween mixed in.
Most of the food was prepared by our favorite "party girl" Lisa Shaw, following recipes from the former - and fabulous - Andelin's Gable House. After we had enjoyed first and for most, second helpings of orange rolls, chicken with a delicious sauce, creamed corn "to die for" and apple pie, we settled into a riotous game of Rotary bingo, with Dale Desmond leading the charge!
Sadly, our numbers were much smaller than we had hoped for, but those who did show up were richly rewarded with good food, good friends and good fun - and we're going to keep Lisa on retainer for all social events going forward!!!

SGR's own Bob Schmig - aka "Major Bob" - reports after much searching and negotiation, the Salvation Army has finally found a new home at 3292 Deseret Drive in St. George. It is a bit smaller than their former space in Washington City but their goal is to be open for business - and the holiday season - on or before Monday, November 2.
Major Bob will be on-air as Dale Desmond's guest on KDXU radio on Tuesday, November 3 at 9:00 a.m. Tune in for more information about the new location, SA's holiday bell ringing fundraiser; and to learn how we can help those in need in our community during the upcoming holiday season.
Did you know ... Itzhak Perlman, world renowned violinist who performed for Queen Elizabeth in 2007 during her visit at the White House and for the inauguration of Barack Obama in 2009, is a polio survivor?
We have just celebrated World Polio Day (Saturday, October 24) recognizing RI's effort to totally and completely eradicate polio from the earth. But, it is important to remember this dreaded disease is "no respecter of rank or position" in the world.
Please support this 38-year effort by donating $8.50 a month in support of RI's effort! See Foundation Chair LaRene Cox or Club Treasurer Collin Davis to sign up.
Don't forget to mail back your ballot or
cast your vote in person
for this important election!
President Kolby's membership goal for RY2026-27 is a net 78 (we are currently at 72) which means we need to work hard to find more new members.
The only way we can reach our goal of six new members this year, is by inviting someone - a friend, neighbor, or co-worker - to check us out around the lunch table! So be sure to keep 15 or more invitation cards in your pocket and hand them oOut with gusto!
It all starts with an invitation to lunch... so, who do you know who should be in Rotary?
THIS famous charitable organization began in 1938 when comedian Eddie Cantor asked every American to mail a single dime to the White House to fund polio research.
The annual "World Polio Day" on Saturday, October 24 was created to draw attention to the fact polio still exists in the world!
According to last week's statistics ... Pakistan is at 6 new cases of wild-polio with paralysis, but
Afghanistan's count has reached 36 for a worldwide total of 42 in 2026 (compared to 36 last year in the same time period)!
Since we haven't yet crossed the finish line in this 38-year fight, will you please consider joining the PolioPlus Society at anominal cost of just $8.50 per month- or a single annual donation of $100 - to save children around the world from this dreaded disease?
See Foundation Chair LaRene Cox or Collin Davis, our club treasurer for information on how to sign upbecause this fight isn't over 'til its over!
