There will be NO NOON MEETING on Monday, October 19, for one or more reasons. We had cancelled with the Abbey Inn and had no speaker scheduled, so instead our Fall Fun Night on Friday, October 23 (see more info below) will take the place of our regular meeting. So mark your calendar and join us for the fun, although you'll need to dress warmly!

But wait ... what about our dictionaries? As it turns out, our order was delayed until Wednesday. So we moved our speaker on Monday, October 26 to make room for our dictionary workday at Reed's office at 35 S. 400 West, #200 to prepare our dictionaries for distribution to 3rd graders in 15 elementary schools throughout the school district.

Got all that?  If you have questions about just about anything relating to activities in the next week, contact Linda Sappington for answers.

On Friday, October 23 at the home of Lisa and Randy Shaw, we will celebrate SGR's hundreds of hours of "service above self" while participating in October's three big events -  all held in the first two crazy weeks of fall in southern Utah.

OR, if you are happy you survived summer in St. George, you might come ready to celebrate the decline into fall of our triple digit temperatures.

OR if you are famous for a special fall dessert you'd like to bring to share, perhaps we'll be celebrating your prowess in the kitchen.

OR maybe you're celebrating your wedding anniversary OR your anniversary of joining St. George Rotary!

So, SG Rotarians ... bring your +1 and feel free to bring a prospective member and their +1 for an evening of cooling, fall weather; laughter, good food and maybe even a spooky surprise, or two.

But whatever you are celebrating, please do it with your Rotary friends at our first social of RY2026-27. It's going to be all kinds of fun!!!

Did you know ... Donald Sutherland, the original rascally "Hawkeye Pierce" of M*A*S*H (the movie) fame and one of the best actors never nominated for an Academy Award, is a polio survivor?

As we approach another World Polio Day (Saturday, October 24) including an effort to totally and completely eradicate polio from the earth, it is important to know this dreaded disease is "no respecter of rank or position" in the world.

Please support this 38-year effort by donating $8.50 a month in support of RI's effort!  See Foundation Chair LaRene Cox or Club Treasurer Collin Davis to sign up.

President Kolby's membership goal for RY2026-27 is a net 78 (we are currently at 72) which means we need to work hard to find more new members.

The only way we can reach our  goal of six new members this year, is by inviting someone - a friend, neighbor, or co-worker - to check us out around the lunch table! So be sure to keep 15 or more invitation cards in your pocket and hand them oOut with gusto!

It all starts with an invitation to lunch ... so, who do you know who should be in Rotary?

THIS famous charitable organization began in 1938 when comedian Eddie Cantor asked every American to mail a single dime to the White House to fund polio research.

"World Polio Day" is on Saturday, October 24 not because its something to celebrate, but because polio still exists as exemplified by last week's statistics ... Pakistan is at 6 new cases of wild-polio with paralysis, but Afghanistan's count has reached 36 for a worldwide total of 42 in 2026 (compared to 36 last year in the same time period)!

Since we haven't yet crossed the finish line in this 38-year fight, will you please consider joining the PolioPlus Society at a nominal cost of just $8.50 per month - or a single annual donation of $100 - to save children around the world from this dreaded disease?

See Foundation Chair LaRene Cox or Collin Davis, our club treasurer for information on how to sign up because this fight isn't over 'til its over!
