On Monday, January 13, SGR will meet at St. George Musical Theater's newly renovated Performing Arts Center (formerly known as Main Street Cinema) at 905 S. Main for a tour of the new PAC and to hear plans for the upcoming new season of this popular theater-in-the-round. Please plan to arrive at 11:30 a.m. for lunch before the presentation by Chairman of the Board Dimon McFerson who says, "there's lots going on here!"
SGR's list of members and their contact information has recently been updated (to include our many new members). If you didn't receive this spreadsheet by email, please contact our club secretary.
Meet SGR's newest member, Brenton Thorpe, a financial advisor with Family Wealth Management. He has spent (almost) his entire life St. George, except for the two years he spent in North Dakota followed by time spent at Utah Valley University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Personal Financial Planning.
“When growing up, I spent a lot of time hanging out at my mom’s office while she developed her successful career as a financial advisor. My interest grew from there, but in my spare time I enjoy softball, as well as hiking, and camping with my wife Harley.”
“Now we know St. George will be our home long-term - and the place our future children will grow up - I want to do what I can to make the community even better. I know I can be part of making a difference as a member of St. George Rotary because this organization has the same goal,” says our newest member.
And here's more good news. At our meeting on Monday, January 6, we received two completed membership applications (Jeff and Lyn Hogrefe) and we have two more former Rotarians filling out applications which will bring us to a mid-year total of 14 new members!!!
SGR's board of directors remembered the tons of fun we had last year when we "bowlioed" so on Monday, January 20 we are going to follow Martin Luther King's suggestion of "a day on, not a day off" with plans to do another "Bowlio Against Polio."
Join us at Fiesta Fun Center for FUNNN with friends at 5 p.m. David and Carla will be there with their food truck, as well.
You will be helping us raise funds for the final eradication of polio by pledging .25c for every pin you "bowlio over," or by signing up for the PolioPlus Society at a cost of $8.50 a month or $100 a year until this dreaded disease is gone from the earth, finally and forever!
Oh, and bring the family!
DG Todd Boyer's membership goal for District 5420
is "2025 in 2025." Who do you know
who should be in Rotary?
Rotary Question of the Week:
SGR will mark this
on January 29!
One more case of wild polio with paralysis in Pakistan was reported this week. Here's hoping the number of cases are slowing down but the worldwide total (so far) in 2024 is93(compared to 12 at the same time in 2023 and the highest count since 2020).
And, be aware, the final tally for 2024 is not yet tabulated.
