Monday, April 29 will be another 5th Monday service project. Join us at 11:30 a.m. at theUtah Food Bankat 4416 S. River Road where we will be working to feed hungry men, women, and especially children
in Washington, Iron, Beaver, Garfield and Kane Counties. Meaningful "service above self" during your lunch hour? It doesn't get any better than that!

Fewer displays this year but all were outstanding quality projects
Here's what's happened with polio eradication since 1988, when polio paralyzed more than 1,000 worldwide every day, mostly young children:
* Rotary's Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) estimates the polio vaccine has saved approximately 20 million children around the world from paralysis.
* Since 1988, Rotary and its partners have reduced polio cases by 99%.
* In 2020, there were 140 cases worldwide. In 2022 there were only 6 cases in Afghanistan and 20 in Pakistan as the remaining endemic countries.
* This progress is thanks to the efforts of countless volunteers and health workers who immunize children in hard-to-reach-communities and establish real-time global surveillance and outbreak response mechanisms.
* Rotary has actively disseminated lifesaving information, countered misinformation, and advocated equitable vaccine access since the pandemic began in 2020.
SGR has the opportunity to provide a little "service above self" for the 10th annual Ironman 70.3 event on Saturday, May 4 ... AND to apply for an Ironman grant to support our Guatemala stoves or any of our other projects.

At the end of 2020, there were 140 cases of wild polio with paralysis in the world. At the end of 2022, there were 6 cases in Afghanistan and 20 in Pakistan.
This terrible disease is still not eradicated by April 29, 2024, but the good news is there are only 4 cases on earth.
