We've been ousted from the Abbey Inn again, so please join us on Monday, September 16 at the DOWNTOWN Pizza Factory where we will have a lively discussion about all we have going on in our 93rd year of doing good in the community and the world!  Bring along a friend or two, a neighbor or co-worker and be sure to welcome SGR's soon-to-be newest members Andreas and Marion Kassel.

At least 15 members of SGR joined with the community on Saturday, September 14 to celebrate the 1st ever "Dixie Days" at St. George Town Square where we displayed a full size copy of our Guatemala stoves ... and District 5420's iron lung.

Thanks to Dale, Ken and Barbara - and everyone else involved - for their amazing efforts to pull this event to a successful conclusion. Special thanks to Jim and Joann Coleman for their extra efforts – at the 11th hour – to collect the trailer housing the iron lung and delivering it from West Jorday to St. George … just in time!

Another successful SGR project in the books!  See more on our Facebook page.

Six non-profit organizations have jumped in to help SGR find 300+ volunteers needed to park cars for the upcoming FedEx Cup / PGA event at the spectacular new Black Desert Resort during the week of October 7 - 13.  They are - including SGR - Washington City Rotary, St. George Sunrise Rotary, Hurricane Valley Rotary, Utah Food Bank and the St. George Children's Museum.

They want to be involved for two reasons:

1.  They already have a list of volunteers who support their cause
2.  They are interested in and hopeful of "bringing home" a big check for directing PGA players, caddies and other VIP's to their parking place.

There will be NO MEETING on Monday, October 7 because we hope ALL our members will be parking cars at Black Desert. So if you haven't already signed up for one or more of three 4-hour shifts per day, please do so as soon as possible.

WELCOME BACK TO SGR, former member Clay Denos. Previously a 6-year member of Club #1079, he left when his workload at the former Red Rock Bank became excessive, but has since changed jobs - and careers - recently becoming an insurance agent with Farm Bureau Financial Services.

This graduate of Westminster College enjoys spending any spare time he has playing with cars, guitars and involvement in "service above self" ... "but mostly I enjoy time with my wife Marchelle and our family."

The Huntsman World Senior Games starts officially on Monday, October 7 with thousands of senior athletes participating in one of more of 40 sporting events .... but the REAL first event is the assembly of more than 11,000 Welcome Bags.  This is a simple project held in the Garden Room at the Dixie Convention Center which primarily involves enjoying rhe company of about 200 amazing volunteers from all over Washington County who spend the day togethr walking, walking and walking around three very long tables filling each bag with "swag."

Shifts on Wednesday, October 2 are from 9 a.m. - noon and 1 - 4-ish p.m. with lunch at noon for volunteers on both shifts.

Please sign up TODAY at seniorgames.net.

Friday the 13th brought the diagnosis of another scary case of the wild polio virus with paralysis in Pakistan bringing the worldwide total in 2024 to 35!

This wicked and crippling - sometimes fatal - virus MUST BE ERADICATED!  It is estimated if we end this campaign, there will be an estimated 200,000 cases within a decade.

But currently, only 53.3% of the world's 1.4 million Rotarians are giving to the eradication of polio.

Please won't you join the Polio Plus Society by committing $8.50 a month or $100 a year until the wild polio virus is finally and forever eradicated?  It can't happen unless we all jump into the fight!!!
