Yes, its that's time again! Board members .... please mark your calendar and meet us at the Abbey Inn on Monday, February 2 at 10:45 a.m. And, please be on time because, as always our club and foundation boards have lots to discuss.
On Monday, February 2, President LaRene will conduct an "up or down" vote for approval of SGR's updated bylaws (which she hopes won't take more than 2 minutes). You should have received this document last Sunday afternoon by email which she hopes you have taken time this week to review. Thanks to Rotarian Allen Young and others who have assisted in this important process.
Questions? Please reach out to President LaRene for answers until we see you at the Abbey Inn.
When the goal of 250 cases of sweet, deliciously juicy, thick-skinned, easy-to-peel, fresh-from-the-tree California navel oranges was announced, one club member noted, "well, we've sold 220 cases in the past so it won't be that much harder to sell another 30!"
But as of today, we still need to sell 58 cases to reach our lofty goal (which will generate approximately $8000 in funding for club projects).
Should we take a very big chance and order - with our fingers crossed - 250 cases with the hope between today and delivery some in the community will respond to our PSA on local radio ... or those to whom we have emailed once or twice will open, read and respond favorably ... or those club members who have not yet ordered will commit to buying and/or selling to neighbors, friends, or co-workers eager for a taste of this delicious fruit?
The cost for a full case is $58 ... a half case can be yours for $34 or you can take home a quarter case for $21.
Email questions to or place an order TODAY at stgeorgerotary@yahoo.com.
Monday, January 26 was a great day to be a St. George Rotarian as we looked back on 95 years of doing good in the community and the world. To celebrate our official date of charter on January 29, 1931, we welcomed about 25 past presidents (a dozen or more who are still members of our club) and former members. We also had three of six Past District Governors selected from our club in attendance, including Gil Trujillo, Jim Coleman and Linda Sappington.
This event welcomed 52 Rotarians as well as former Rotarians and friends, who shared memories, hugs and a delicious cake, contributed by Jeff and Lyn Hogrefe. It was a wonderful opportunity to hear from past presidents Jim Coleman, Linda Baker, Rulon Olsen and Dave Prisbrey. Together we looked back, looked forward, saw old friends from years past and enjoyed a delightful video produced and narrated by Dale Desmond, the only SGR club president to have served twice (once during the COVID year of RY2020-21 and again in RY2022-23).
A really big thanks also goes to the "Is It FUNNN?" Committee including Joann Coleman, Lyn Hogrefe, Carla Martinez, Linda Baker and Dale Desmond for putting this really FUNNN program together!
To watch it again, you'll find the link to Dale's video on SGR's Facebook page or search YouTube for Rotary 95 Celebration. Enjoy!
It wasn't easy to recreate our 95 year history of past, present and future club presidents, but we got it done with a little help from RI!
Rotary Club #1079 was chartered on January 29, 1931!
Jim Coleman auctioned off two game balls from past Dixie Rotary Bowl games for $150 each!
We don't have anyone to chair RYLA yet, but we can begin recruiting high school sophomores and juniors for this wonderful experience in June. In the meantime, talk it up with your kids, grands, neighbors and friends. Then pass along the names of any interested teenagers to President LaRene.
Utah Rotary's DG Suzanne goal for D5420 is for a net increase of 200 new members by June 30, 2026.
So, who do you know who should be a member of
St. George Rotary Club?
Only two Utah Rotarians are members of THIS RI level SOCIETY. You only need 25 to be a member but Brent Parkin of the Ogden Club has found 44 and PDG Shaun Michel is recognized for 36!
Sadly, another Afghani child has been diagnosed as the world's final case of wild polio with paralysis bringing the yearend total to 41 in 2025 ... 10 in Afghanistan and 31 in Pakistan.
In 2026, please resolve to join the PolioPlus Society at a cost of just $8.50 PER MONTH - or an annual donation of $100 to save children around the world from this dreaded disease.
FMI, contact Foundation Chair Dave Prisbrey or Club Treasurer Collin Davis to make your wishes known!
