SGR's annual Latin Appreciation Fiesta on Monday evening, May 4 at Tonaquint Park took a fun twist with the presence of the local dance group Ballet Folklorio Xochiiquetzalli (Aztec for "beautiful flower") and delicious food (prepared by our own Carla and David Martinez) including Tres Leche cake. Thanks to everyone who came out - especially those we haven't seen in a while and have missed!

The weather was a little cooler than usual, but the dancers' enthusiasm warmed us up!

Thanks to Chris and Eva Parker for once again managing the details to create this memorable event!

Mark your calendar for next year - already on the schedule for Monday, May 3.

Do you know, a Rotary Club in Sanpete County does not currently exist, but thanks to Bountiful Rotarian Dan Bradshaw, one is forming and already has 13members!

Why is this significant to members of SGR? His committee is offering you the opportunity to win a Browning AB3 Hunter 6.5 Creedmore Rifle to raise funds for the RCSC Club to improve literacy in Sanpete County schools.

A drawing will be held at the Sanpete County Fair and Car Show on Friday, August 28 in Manti … and you don’t need to be present to win!

Your donation of $5 will get you 1 ticket … $20 for 5 tickets or 30 for $100.  Venmo to @dan-bradshaw-1 or if you are passing through Manti, tickets can be found at Hermansen’s Hardware or call 801-518-7055 for more information.

Thanks to the 17 members of SGR who have - so far - reached deep to make The Rotary Club of St. George, UT Named Fund a reality ... which will provide money for SGR's "service above self" projects annually and forever. For those still contemplating a donation, the opportunity still exists and here's how you can do it:

*  Write a check payable to "The Rotary Foundation."
*  District Foundation Chairman Egor Shulman will then fill out the necessary forms and submit your donation to TRF for club and individual member recognition. From there, SGR will get a check every year in the amount of our Endowment-SHARE account's current annual spendable income.

SGR's next big fundraiser is the PGA Tour at Black Desert, sponsored for the second time by Bank of Utah.  Registration is now open, and as of this writing, we have 22 of 30 volunteers willing to sign up for three shifts each!!!  THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

Join your Rotary friends at the spectacular Hole 11 during the week of Sept. 30 - Oct. 4. It's a whole lot of fun but more important, it is possible - with your participation - this could be SGR's biggest fundraiser of RY2025-26!

The swag package for each volunteer is valued at $2975 including a tournament polo, tournament jacket, ball cap, meals during scheduled shifts and an opportunity to play the course yourself during the 2027 off season and much more!

Our team leader Kenny Ball recently reached out to express excitement at having SG Rotarians back for another year. FMI, see Linda Sappington.

Utah Rotary's DG Suzanne Wilhelm's two very ambitious goals for D5420 are (1) the creation of an Endowment-SHARE in the amount of $10,000,000; and, (2) increase district membership by a net 200 new members by June 30, 2026.

So, who do you know who might be willing to write a sizeable check and/or should be a member of SGR?

The formation of a new club is the most effective way for Rotary to add members!  Currently one is forming in Utah and already has 13 members. How many members do they need to charter and how many clubs will Utah Rotary District 5420 then have?

Reports are 2 more Pakistani children have been paralyzed with wild polio bringing our worldwide case total in the first 131 days of 2026 to 6!

This year, please join the PolioPlus Society at a cost of just $8.50 PER MONTH - or an annual donation of $100 to save children around the world from this dreaded disease.

FMI, contact Foundation Chair Dave Prisbrey or Club Treasurer Collin Davis to make your wishes known!
