For our 5th Monday service project on January 29, SGR will meet at Reed's office (Jviation) located at 35 S. 400 West beginning anytime after 11:30 a.m. Come one, come all to help prepare dictionaries for distribution to 3rd graders in 16 of WCSD's 28 elementary schools. And, there will be pizza!
SGR's own Janene Burton was recently crowned "Ms. Senior USA" in a competitive pageant for women over 60.
Being chosen as Ms. Senior USA is the 2nd impressive honor for this Rotarian after being inducted as a member of SGR in September, 2023. In November, she went on to beat the odds in an uphill battle to win a seat on the Santa Clara City Council as a write-in candidate.
The new Ms. Senior USA - formerly Ms. Senior Utah - is committed to lots of public speaking during her reign, although she is quick to point out her first commitment is to the Santa Clara City Council.
Congratulations, Rotarian Janene!
In somewhat less exciting news, it's time again to place your order for3 or more casesof sweet, delicious Californianaveloranges (historically, over the five years of this fundraising project, some of the best oranges you've ever wrapped your tastebuds around)!!!
The cost this year has increased to$58 for a full case, $34 for a half caseor $23 for a quarter case due to the rising costs for boxes, fertilizer and fuel in 2024.
Anticipated delivery date - when the oranges are at the peak of their goodness - is on or aroundValentine's Day.
With the support of ALL SG Rotarians, this will be a banner sales year!
