It’s the first Monday of 2025, so please plan to attend our first board meeting(s) of the New Year.  Board members, we will be meeting at the Abbey at 10:45 a.m. on Monday, January 6.  Be prompt, because as always there is lots to discuss.

Martin Luther King, Jr. encouraged Americans - rather than take the day off for recreation – to dedicate the anniversary of his birthday to some kind of service. In other words, make this year's Civil Rights Day (aka MLK Day) “a day on, not a day off!”

With this in mind, you are invited to join St. George Rotary Club for our annual “Bowlio Against Polio” on Monday, January 20 to raise funds for the final push to eradicate this crippling – sometimes fatal – disease from the earth finally and forever?  Here’s how it works:
  • It is unlikely anyone will bowl a perfect 300 game, but you are asked to solicit support from family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers at a rate of .25c per pin.
  • OR just write a personal check (or Venmo) your tax-deductible gift.
  • OR sign up to become a member of the PolioPlus Society ($8.50 per month)!
What does our club get out of this “service above self” event?
  • Bragging rights and a trophy for the team with the highest score.
  • AND/OR, bragging rights and a trophy for the team with the most money collected!
  • All donations raised by OUR club will go to RI’s PolioPlus program (in our name) before June 30, 2025!
Fiesta Fun has plenty of lanes and teams can be up to six players.  Will you join us?

Due to the growth of our club this year - 10 new members to date in RY2024-25 - please be aware our name badge box has been rearranged alphabetically (or as close to alphabetical as possible).  For the moment, your badge should be easy to find … although it’s anyone’s guess how long it will remain orderly.

We hope you understand why this “clean up” was necessary, but if you have questions, contact our Club Secretary.

Rotary Question of the Week:

Rotarians live by these
24 words!

Bah, humbug ... while we were enjoying the holidays, there were 8 more confirmed cases of wild polio with paralysis in Pakistan bringing the worldwide total in 2024 to 91 (compared to 12 at the same time in 2023 and the highest count since 2020).

But the final tally for 2024 is not yet tabulated.
