It will be another week "away" from the Abbey Inn when at noon on Monday, April 28, SGR will gather at the historic St. George Social Hall, 212 N. Main St. where we will hear from this year's 4-Way Test Essay Contest winners (1st and 2nd place from Sunrise Ridge and Tonaquint Intermediate Schools).
The intangible benefit creator Herbert J. Taylor found in repeating these 24 words daily is “you cannot apply the Four-Way Test to your business relations 8-hours a day without incorporating it into your home, social and community life. You thus become a better person, a better friend and a better citizen.”
SGR's 3rd annual Latin Appreciation Fiesta, will be held at Tonaquint Park on Monday, May 5 beginning at 6 pm. The menu offers Mexican tacos and elotes (Mexican corn on the cob) provided by Carla and David Martinez. This social get-together will start as all our gatherings begin, to be followed by Latin music, games, activities and a traditional tres leches cake.
Bring neighbors, friends, co-workers or others who might be interested in learning more about Rotary. It will be all kinds of good times for the whole family!!!
On Easter Monday, April 21, SGR and friends met at Dixie High School for lunch, a program by Brian Gunnell, Homeless Liaison / Student Services Coordinator; a tour of the first of five Teen Centers in high schools in the Washington County School District ... and a special surprise guest.
In town on business, U.S. Congresswoman - and a former member of St. George Rotary - Celeste Maloy shared her commitment to Southern Utah, especially as a steadfast advocate for protecting local control over Utah's public land.
She also discussed tariffs and her support of the Trump administration's use of reciprocal tariffs as a strategy to address trade imbalances with other countries around the world.
Maloy serves on the House Appropriations and Natural Resources Committees, where she advocates for a balanced federal budget and defends Utah’s rights to access and manage its public lands. As Executive Vice Chair of the Western Caucus, she amplifies local voices on key Western issues.

Rotary Question of the Week:
What is the Utah Rotary District's ID #?
Sadly, this week a new case of wild polio with paralysis was diagnosed in Afghanistan bringing the number of cases in the world to 8 since New Years Day 2025. We're going in the right direction, but it's still out there now with 2 cases in Afghanistan and 6 in Pakistan.
If you aren't already giving to the PolioPlus Society - at an affordable $8.50 a month or $100 annually until polio is eradicated finally and forever - see Foundation Chairs Bryan or Dale for more information.
