It's April Fools Day so please plan to meet - NOT at the Abbey Inn - but, instead we will be gathering at Snow Park for lunch at 11:30 a.m .... followed by amusement at Fiesta Fun Center.  See more information below!

At the beginning of his year as President, Bryan Thiriot set a goal to have a minimum of 8 socials during RY2023-24 but to date, we've only had 5. Monday, April 1 just seemed like the perfect day for a social so  we're inviting SGR to enjoy lunch from Carla and David Martinez's food truck  - Yogi Snow and Snacks - starting at 11:30 a.m. at Snow Park ... followed by an hour of amusement in the "B" Lounge at Fiesta Fun Center.

It's going to be LOTS of funnn so come one, come all!

And, this might be a perfect "meeting" to bring your favorite prospective member.

The good news is our sweet, delicious California oranges will be arriving in St. George very soon! The bad news is, while they were expected on Monday, April 1, they won't be here until Tuesday, April 9 because our driver wanted to spend Easter Sunday with his family rather than on the I-15.

So, on Tuesday, April 9 please plan to pick up your order of this tasty citrus at the WashCo School District Warehouse at 811 E. Brigham Road, anytime after 9 a.m.

We also need 2-3 Rotarians who can arrive a little before 9 a.m. and stay long enough to help buyers load oranges into their cars and collect payments.  Can you help us?

And here's more good news - this time it's about two big SGR projects!  In the month of March, we raised LOTS of money in support of our Guatemala stoves project ... as well as for our "Forever Dixie" monument restoration on the corner of 86 S. Main Street.

Thanks to the hard work and a well-prepared "ask" by Dan Strobell, Bryan Thiriot and Chris Parker, the Cedar City Rotary Club - perhaps our strongest partner in Guatemala - wrote a check in the amount of $7500 toward our budgeted amount of $25,000 for this year's goal to build 125 stoves in this Central American country.  With the $1000 contributed during Horseplay last week, $8600 in the bank carried over from last year - and another successful oranges fundraiser - fingers are crossed we're going to reach our goal!!!

Regarding our fundraising efforts for the "Forever Dixie" monument, Chairman Dan McArthur reports he has cash-in-hand or pledges from Dixie College / University alumni and friends amounting to $6500 toward a goal of $7500!  Work by stonemason Paul Lillywhite is due to begin in the next few weeks.

Thanks to everyone who has "put your shoulder to the wheel," opened your wallet or helped in any other way toward the success of these two SGR projects.

But we're not quite to the fundraising finish line ... so please consider "purchasing" a stove for $200 or writing a check in support of "forever Dixie."

  • Do you know April is National Volunteer Month?
  • Do you know Utah is the #1 state in the nation for volunteering?
  • Do you know Utah Rotary District 5420 - and St. George Rotary Club - provide significant hours of service to Utah's totals?
Thanks for all you do in our community, our state and the world!
