Yep, it's board meeting time again. Board members, please be at the Abbey Inn on Monday, October 5 at 10:45 a.m. to discuss all-things-SGR. If you have an agenda item, please text information to SGR's Club Secretary.
100+ volunteers, including a dozen Rotarians, walked ... and walked ... and walked to put a whole lot of swag into welcome bags for senior athletes participating in the 39th annual Huntsman Games.
Sadly we did not - for the first time in a decade - finish this project in one day! But all went well on the opening day of "service above self" of the PGA TOUR at Black Desert, both events happening simultaneously on Wednesday, September 30!
100+ boxes of welcome bags await 12,000+ senior athletes playing in the HWSG's
The 3rd PGA Tour at Black Desert once again welcomed SGR at Hole 11.
Most SGR vols served at Hole 11, except those who spent the day at Hole 15.
The 50th running of the St. George Marathon - with a record number of 10,000 registered runners from all 50 states and 20 nations - also coincided with the PGA TOUR on Saturday, October 3 and the opening day of the 39th annual Huntsman Games on Monday, October 5.
Volunteers for these three huge events were stretched thin to manage the high demand for good workers to make everything run smoothly, including 35 who showed up to help at Marathon Aid Station #18 (the Ledges offramp) in whatever way was needed.
Thanks to all who got up early to help manage the demands of this extremely busy weekend!
"Service above self" at the PGA was beautiful and fun, but 7 hours in 99 degree weather didn't make for the best of conditions!
Water, Gatorade, bananas, oranges an occasional bandaid and cheering fans refreshed runners on their way to the finish line.
"Breakfast (burritos and quesadillas) is served" in the cool early morning by Chef Dave and his team including PE Dan Adams.
President Kolby's membership goal for RY2026-27 is a net 78 (we are currently at 72) which means we need to work hard to find more new members.
The only way we can reach our goal of six new members this year, is by inviting someone - a friend, neighbor, or co-worker - to check us out around the lunch table! So be sure to keep 15 or more invitation cards in your pocket and hand them out with gusto!
It all starts with an invitation to lunch... so, who do you know who should be in Rotary?
RI has a designated theme for every month of the year.
What is October's theme and
how is SGR "creating greater impact" in this area?
Another "World Polio Day" is right around the corner (October 24) but polio still exists as exemplified by last week's statistics ... Pakistan reports NO new case of wild-polio with paralysis, but Afghanistan added 3 more cases to their count last week for a worldwide total of 39 in 2026 (compared to 31 last year in the same time period)!
Since we haven't yet crossed the finish line in this 36-year fight, will you please consider joining the PolioPlus Society at anominal cost of just $8.50 per month- or a single annual donation of $100 - to save children around the world from this dreaded disease?
See Foundation Chair LaRene Cox or Collin Davis, our club treasurer for information on how to sign upbecause this fight isn't over 'til its over!
We hope you'll find the answer in our next story posted inSt. George News;onKDXU Radio(on the first Tuesday morning of each month), onFacebookand now also
on Instagram!
