Utah Food Bank
5th Monday "service above self" Utah Food Bank Nov 30, 2026 11:37 PM

St. George Rotary is a fan of the Utah Food Bank and thanks to our Service Chair Reed Noble we get to spend the 5th Monday of November (actual date is Monday, November 30) helping feed the hungry in the five county region during the holiday season.  Box lunches will be served before we get going on this important work.  11:39 a.m. at 4416 S. River Road.

This is SGR's 2nd of 4 "5th Monday" projects in RY2026-27.  Come one, come all ... and bring along an interested friend, neighbor or co-worker to get a feel for what "service above self with friends" is all about!

"A day which shall live in infamy" and the beginning of World War II
Jim Shumate from Family Search "A day which shall live in infamy" and the beginning of World War II Dec 07, 2026 11:57 AM

85 years ago today, on December 7, 1941, the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service launched a surprise military strike against the U.S. naval base at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. The attack destroyed or damaged numerous American ships and aircraft, and killed more than 2,400 civilians and military personnel. President Theodore Roosevelt called the sudden, unprovoked nature of the strike "a day which will live in infamy" while both nations were still engaged in diplomatic talks—and to frame it as a shameful act of betrayal.

Our speaker Jim Shumate and a volunteer from the local Family Search, will share information about this event which brought the United States into World War II.
