Michelle Tanner and Natalie Larsen
On service to the community as St. George City councilwomen

Our own Michelle Tanner and Natalie Larsen, recently elected to serve on the St. George City Council, will share their experiences in their new adventure and update SGR and what's happening in the City.

The accomplished daughter of Dan and Cindi Strobell has been an active participant in SGR's Guatemala stoves project taking supplies and her own medical skills to assist where needed in Mayan villages and also serves on the Dan and Cindi Strobell Foundation Board.

Michelle, born on Ellsworth Airforce Base in Rapid City, South Dakota, was a young child when she moved to St. George, UT with her parents.

She has an undergraduate degree in nursing from DSU and BYU-I then went on to earn a graduate degree and became a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner through the University of South Alabama. She has worked in Emergency Medicine for more than a decade but now owns and practices in the name of Belle Tu Medical, her own small medical clinic.

She has been married to “my best friend” Joshua Tanner for 14 years.  The Tanners are parents to two children.

Though a native of Cedar City, UT Councilwoman Natalie Larsen “had the  best childhood growing up in St. George.” Her earliest memories include watching Dixie High School or Dixie College football games in the Sunbowl or the Lion's Dixie Roundup. “Within those four or five blocks we had it all, the swimming pool, park, baseball fields, bowling alley, schools, shaved ice and the smell of the Boots Cox Dairy. Community service was behind every event. We all had the opportunity to serve our neighbors and city.”

The former owners of Larsen’s Frostop (sold in 2002), Natalie and her husband Milton Larsen are currently small business owners, including wrangling a small herd of cattle.  Milt operates the businesses while Natalie is a real estate professional. The Larsen’s are the parents of five children and recently became grandparents.

Councilwoman Larsen has been involved with:

  • St George City Planning Commission
  • Washington County Water District Community Integrated Resource Planning Advisory Committee
  • Dixie Junior Livestock Show Board of Directors
  • Washington County School District Boundary Committee
  • Various PTSA Boards
