On Monday, August 25 at noon, SGR will be "away" from the Abbey Inn again as we meet, eat and tour Utah Tech's Innovation Plaza (formerly known as East Elementary School for those who have been around St. George for awhile) across from the university football field. This would be a great opportunity to bring a friend, neighbor or co-worker to get acquainted with Rotary!
SGR's board of directors recently met in a special session and voted to provide scholarships for four of our new members, members who have never attended or any interested young professionals to attend DG Suzanne Leonelli Wilhelm's District Conference for RY2025-26 at the Hilton Garden Inn (next door to the Dixie Convention Center) on September 18-20.
If you would like to take advantage of this opportunity - even if you just want to know more about it - please see President LaRene Cox or a member of the board!
Look who's back ... but hopefully not for long! (Sorry, that didn't come out right). As we all know, Ken and Barbara Sizemore have been serving an LDS mission in Monterey, CA for the past six months but recently their daughter Sarah had cancer surgery so they came home to help her recuperate. If they are unable to return, they have only a few weeks before they must be released. While we are happy to have them back in our company for a time, we hope Sarah is soon well enough to enable them to return to their mission field. Thoughts and prayers are with the Sizemore family in hopes this difficult time will soon be behind them.
Thanks to the generosity of SGR's Allen Young, we have another sponsor for our upcoming "Rev'd Up for Rotary" car show (and Allen has a "sweet ride" he is thinking about entering) ... but we still need more sponsors!
If you are a business owner - or someone you know is a business owner who would like to supportfive or more scholarships for vocational students at Dixie Technical College - $250, $500 or $1000 will get him, her or you a generous sponsor package, including a spot in our sponsor showcase.
Thanks in advance for your support as a sponsor or for reaching out to others in your circle of influence. If you have questions or wonder where to send your company logo, contact Dale Desmond.
Utah Rotary's District Governor Suzanne Wilhelm's goal for D5420 is a net increase of 200 members by June 30, 2026 (that's just 4-ish in each of Utah's 45 clubs). So, who do you know who should be a member of St. George Rotary Club?
Rotary Question of the Week
Rotarians channel their commitment to service throughthe five of these which make up the foundation of club activity. Can you name them?
Now at the peak of this year's polio season, it should be no surprise to have 2 more Pakistani children diagnosed with WPV with paralysis - as well as 42 environmental samples detected - bringing the worldwide total to 23 ... 2 in Afghanistan and 21 in Pakistan.
While Rotarians know we're going in the right direction, we also know it's still out there.
If you aren't already giving to the PolioPlus Society - at an affordable $8.50 a month or $100 annuallyuntil polio is eradicated finally and forever -please see Foundation Chairs Dave, Bryan or Dale to sign up or for more information.
