Horseplay: please share SAD dollars for Maui
As we all know by now, the Hawaiian island of Maui has been devastated by wildfire which has destroyed 150 years of history, and more than 2000 homes and businesses, including those of numerous Rotary families and business people.

Please plan to be generous on Monday, August 14 with whatever horseplay money you can give as SAD dollars!

This is an apocalyptic tragedy with 93 deaths, 1000 still missing and billions of dollars in property loss.

Please donate as you are able.
Bring your family, friends, neighbors and co-workers!

Potluck at the firepit
SGR'S firepit restoration project is done and ready to be celebrated. Join us at the northeast corner of Vernon Worthen Park beginning at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, August 21.

There will be a potluck lunch, a few brief speeches and a party atmosphere.

As was probably done back in 1948, you are asked to bring a side dish (salad, baked beans, chips, etc) or a dessert to share.  The main course and drinks will be provided by SGR. Sign up sheets will be available at today's meeting.

Please bring a family member, neighbor, friend or co-worker to join in the festivities and to see what "service above self" in Rotary is all about. It's going to be FUNNN!!!
Do you have a project idea for the National Day of Service?
During the week of the September 11th National Day of Service, Rotary clubs around the district – including SGR – are asked to partner with JustServe.org for a “service above self” project of any kind and with any other non-profit or government organization.

Please reach out to Service Chair Reed Noble with any idea you might have as we provide "service above self" honoring our American spirit.
Governor Redd has asked 9 members
to represent SGR at the Gala.  Will you join us for the fashion, food, fellowship and fun?

It's now less than six weeks to SGR's 10th Annual Golf Tournament
The date has been set (Thursday, September 21).  The location has been reserved (Sunbrook Golf Course).  A chairman is in place (Chris Parker) ... and this year's goal is $15,000!

To reach this lofty goal the committee, including Dave Watson, Paul Tikalsky, Ed Sappington and Rob Nodine, needs your help to find teams (as many to 25), hole sponsors (up to 18), giveaway items and anything else needed to make this the very best golf tournament in SGR history.

See a committee member for more information or to contribute your time, talents or money!
The total cases of wild polio since NYD 2023 - anywhere in the world - is still holding steady at
7 (2 in Afghanistan and 5 in Pakistan) - but don't be fooled into believing this terrible disease has been eradicated because it is still very much a threat to the children of the world.

PLEASE help us achieve RI's goal of ZERO by joining the Polio Plus Society at just $8.50 per month until polio is - finally and forever - eradicated from the earth, 'cause this fight isn't over til its over!
