Wednesday, Septembert 30 kicks off the Huntsman World Senior Games (Oct. 5-17) ... but it also kicks off the St. George Marathon (Saturday, October 3), the PGA TOUR at Black Desert (Sept. 30- Oct. 4) and a whole lot of other good stuff happening in our community during the first two weeks of October! This "service above self" project requires a lot of walking to stuff more than 11,750 swag bags for athletes from all over the world but includes a delicious lunch for all volunteers who sign up (and show up) for either or both shifts. WCSD "Super"intendent Richard Holmes | An update on education in Washington County | Oct 26, 2026 11:53 AM |
The school bell has rung again ... and this year more than ???? students have returned to the classroom. Washington County School District Superintendent Richard Holmes started life in Ogden but at age 11, he moved with his family to a ranch in Eastern Oregon. After graduation from North Powder High School, he served a mission for the LDS church in Australia. He later earned a bachelor's and master’s degree in special education from Utah State University. Richard has worked in Washington County School District his entire career beginning as a Special Education teacher at Pine View Middle School. He has been an administrator in many elementary and secondary schools in Washington County School District. He has worked at the District level for 17 years as Executive Director, Assistant Superintendent, and was selected as the Superintendent of Schools in 2023. Richard is married to Marnae Holmes. They have 5 children and 14 grandchildren.
